Maureen Feenstra
Secretary
"Hello! My name is Maureen and I have been a sledge hockey parent since November 2019.
Since that time my daughter has developed so much as a player and as a person, making life long friends and participating in some amazing experiences in her young life. I hold the position of Secretary on the CSHA Board.
I am so thankful to the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association for what they have given my family.
If you ever see me in the stands cheering or volunteering at a CSHA event do not hesitate to come ask questions, talk about para hockey or just chat as the board is here for you.
Rick Richards
Member At Large
Rick Richards joined the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association after seeing firsthand the positive impact that para ice hockey was having on athletes and families throughout the community. As President of the Cochrane Generals, Rick recognized an opportunity to build a meaningful partnership between the two organizations and has been a strong supporter of CSHA ever since.
Through Rick's leadership, the Cochrane Generals have become a valued community partner of CSHA. Together, the organizations host an annual Try-It event and exhibition game, bringing athletes, families, and community members together while raising awareness and funds to support para ice hockey. These events have become an important part of strengthening relationships between the standing and para hockey communities.
As a member at large for the Board of Directors, Rick brings practical experience, community connections, and a collaborative approach to supporting the association's goals. Known for his reliability and willingness to help wherever needed, Rick is often among the first to volunteer his time and expertise in support of CSHA initiatives. His steady leadership, generous spirit, and commitment to community engagement have made him a valued member of the CSHA team and an important contributor to the organization's continued success.
Jason Beaman
Member At Large
Jason has been playing with Calgary Sledge for 7 seasons, 2 seasons as a member of the Provincial team, and has been a CSHA Board member for 6 of those seasons contributing in a small way to help grow the sport in Calgary and across the province.
His desire to compete and drive for results in sport didn't start in sledge but started at a very young age by his parents when they were told that Jason wouldn't be able to do much in his life as he was born with no legs. From that point forward there was nothing he or his parents wouldn't try as there was always a way! So at the age of 7 Jason was introduced to downhill skiing and the ability to set the sites on the largest para-competition in the world, the Paralympics. Jason competed in the 1992 Winter Paralympics in Albertville, France after a short but intense 3 years on the National Downhill ski team. Jason then took that competitive drive to his studies and completed 2 degrees from the University of Alberta before entering a career in Human Resources for multiple companies in many industries in North America specializing in creating and building successful companies and their people. Jason now has his own company consulting for many different organizations across Canada.
